Today, the Serviceplan Group is celebrating its tenth innovation day at the House of Communication in Munich together with its partners IP Deutschland, Microsoft, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, G+J Media Sales EMS and Radio Marketing Service. The programme will kick off with a keynote speech by futurologist Magnus Lindkvist and conclude with a 'Talk of Fame' by entertainer Thomas Gottschalk. Over 400 knowledge-hungry decision makers from the worlds of business and media have gathered once again to seek out inspiration, new ideas and motivation.

Munich, 25 September 2014 — Every year, the leading trends of the day, such as sustainability, social media, e-commerce, entertainment and sports marketing, are discussed during the Innovation Day in Munich. The current economic situation always forms the backdrop to the discussions. Once again this year, more than 400 guests have accepted the invitation of the Serviceplan Group and its partners IP Deutschland, Microsoft, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), G+J Media Sales EMS and Radio Marketing Service (RMS) to visit the House of Communication and join up with top-flight speakers and personalities in a series of presentations and discussions. Guests will be greeted by Florian Haller, CEO of the Serviceplan Group, while throughout the day the event will be moderated by Matthias Müller von Blumencron, Editor-in-Chief of Digital Media at F.A.Z.
Swedish trendspotter, futurologist and author, Magnus Lindkvist, will deliver the keynote speech on the world of tomorrow. In his speech, he will take a look at the future and encourage us to play an active role. He believes the future is open and can be shaped. It is down to us to take control our lives and business and decide what we should invest in.
Julia Jäkel, President of Gruner + Jahr, will provide encouragement from the publishing industry and talk about how to successfully handle the digital disruption, not just in publishing but in other industries as well. According to Julia, the media industry has long since adjusted; change has become an everyday occurrence. She will also discuss the following key point: How do you create a creative corporate culture which quickly adapts to constantly changing conditions?
Football is a hot topic, and not just during the 2014 as a World Cup year. Christian Seifert, CEO of DFL, will take a look at the challenges faced when establishing an international online and offline presence with his presentation entitled "The Bundesliga – breaking into international markets and cultures".  Following the record revenues generated by the national sale of broadcasting rights, the DFL (German Football League) also wishes to increase the appeal of the Bundesliga on an international level.
In the afternoon, fashion designer and founder of the brands "JOOP!" and "Wunderkind", Wolfgang Joop, will take the floor. He is regarded as one of the most successful German names in the international fashion industry. The designer not only expresses his creativity through fashion, but also as an illustrator and artist. In an interview with Alfons Kaiser, FAZ, he will talk about whether unrestrained creativity is compatible with commercial success and what role the opinion of the customer plays in the creative process.
The next presentation, by Jonathan Oliver, Digital Strategist at Microsoft, will investigate how innovation is defined and why true innovation first has to be wrong, in order to be right. From a marketing perspective, he will examine how the high-risk nature of true innovation does not deliver on current conservative marketing objectives.

Jonathan Forster, General Manager Europe and Vice President Ad Sales at Spotify will focus on how the music industry is undergoing radical changes and handling technical innovations. For several years, download services such as iTunes seemed to be a successful solution in the fight against illegal copying and piracy. Now, according to Jonathan, music streaming is the most innovative solution. Here, the focus is not on the possession of the product, a certain album or song, but access to a far wider range of different music titles. But what will be the next step for the music industry?
The next guest, and yet another highlight of the innovation day, will be Thomas Gottschalk. In an interview with Britta Poetzsch, Head of Lifestyle at the Serviceplan Group, he will explore how personal branding can be developed successfully and in sustainably in today’s complex multi-channel world.
At this year's innovation day, guests are also able to draw inspiration in our "innovation lounge". This is where technical vision and developments come to life, including shopping innovations such as the beacon installation at the House of Communication, tactile innovations such as 3D screens which don't require special glasses, virtual developments such as the BMW i8 Google Glass Experience and Eye Ride, the first virtual test drive for BMW Motorrad.
And to top it all off, the CMO of the year will be announced. A shortlist of the ten most well-known candidates was drawn up from an online survey of industry experts. From this list, a panel of experts from marketing and media – including Capital, n-tv and the industry publication Werben & Verkaufen – then selected Germany's Chief Marketing Officer of the year based on three criteria: success, innovation and internationality. The evening will conclude with an exclusive gala dinner at the Haus der Kunst museum.
"This year's innovation day is a real highlight for me," says host and Serviceplan CEO Florian Haller. "The selection of speakers we've put together offer a colourful and inspiring mix of media, communication and innovation to inspire and surprise our guests once again. In addition to our inspirational programme, the many interesting discussions that take place among guests, both during the day and at the gala dinner, are also important. Once again, we have managed to meet our own high expectations – and that's mainly thanks to our partners IP Deutschland, Microsoft, FAZ, G+J Media Sales EMS and RMS."
